JOB: Just Over Broke

One Monday earlier this year my aunt Lisa, uncle Chad, and I decided to make the beach our office for the day. We all grabbed our laptops and notebooks and drove to Venice, CA. We all ended up getting pretty sunburnt that day, but that isn’t the point. Going to the beach or amusement parks on a weekday isn’t out of the ordinary for us. Many people ask how we are able to do things like this or travel like we do. We are able to do whatever we want the majority of the time because we run our own businesses. “Well I know lots of people who run businesses and they can’t just get away all the time?” We’ve set up our businesses so we can run them from the comfort of our own home… Or the beach… Or Costa Rica or Thailand. We are able to make money even when we aren’t actively working.
On this specific day after working at the beach all day we stopped at a coffee shop to charge our devices and regroup. I remember my aunt saying “I figured out what job stands for… Just Over Broke,” I thought about it for a minute and it settled well with me. Most people will spend their entire lives working 40+ hours a week just to make a living; trying to keep up with the bills, buying the newest toys, and paying for kids’ sports, school, and activities. That has never been a life I desired to live. I was lucky enough to grow up seeing how completely possible it is to start my own business and that is what I did. I dropped out of college to start an online personal training business. Many people told me that I was too smart to drop out of college; I was in the honors program and graduated high school 5th in my class. I was able to see though, that going to college to get a diploma will only help me get a job working for someone else, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid.

So now I am free to do whatever I feel like doing, such as writing the blog you are currently reading from my bed while eating my pb&j and chocolate milk.
